Dutchceramics has installed solar panels!

At Dutchceramics we are always working on how we can combine our beautiful craft with care for our planet. And we have great news: we have had solar panels installed! We would like to share this with you, because we are extremely proud of this step towards sustainability.

A carport full of energy

We didn't just put solar panels on the roof. No, we opted for a carport of 12 by 5 meters, built by Inframarks from Alphen. This way, five cars can be nice and dry and we capture the sun's rays with 30 solar panels. Two birds with one stone!

What does this mean for us?

The 30 solar panels are expected to produce around 10,000 kWh per year. That is about a quarter to a third of the power consumption of our seven ceramic ovens, which range from 10 to 57 kW. By planning smartly and running the ovens when the sun is shining, we can make optimal use of our own green energy. This means less dependence on the energy grid and a lower energy bill. How nice is that?

Ready for the future

But we go one step further. There will also be a charging point for electric cars at our new carport. In 2025 we will switch to an electric commercial vehicle for our deliveries. This way we can drive environmentally friendly and cost-effectively, and we remain welcome in all city centers without having to worry about environmental zones. Good for the environment and for our company!

Passion for craft and environment

As a traditional company that produces everything locally, we believe it is important to also generate our energy locally. We are proud of this step towards more sustainable business operations. It feels good to contribute to a better world, while we continue to do what we love: making the most beautiful Delft blue pottery.

Come see it for yourself!

Are you curious about our new solar panels or do you just want to see how we work? You are very welcome to come by.

Thanks for reading and hopefully see you soon!
