    Delft Blue Violins

    For many people, a violin is more than a musical instrument. It is an instrument with a rich history and a recognizable shape that immediately attracts attention even without music. That is why Delft blue violins are not only bought by music lovers, but also as a decorative object or as a special gift.

    At Dutchceramics, we make ceramic violins in our own factory in Gouderak. The recognizable shape of the violin and the traditional Delft decorations create a special object that fits into both a classic and contemporary interior.

    A special gift for music lovers

    A Delft blue violin is regularly given as a gift to someone with a passion for music. Think of a musician, music teacher or collector of Delft ceramics. A ceramic violin is also a lasting memory for an anniversary, farewell or special performance.

    Frequently chosen occasions are:

    • An anniversary;
    • A farewell;
    • A retirement;
    • A birthday;
    • A business gift;
    • A gift for a musician or music lover.

    Traditional decorations and customization

    Many of our violins feature classic Delft decorations, such as flowers, ornamental ornaments or Dutch scenes. The decoration follows the elegant lines of the instrument, which beautifully highlights the shape of the violin.

    Do you want to have a personal gift made? Then we can also provide a violin with its own decoration. Think of a company logo, a name, a date or a special design that matches the occasion.

    From Casting Clay to Finished Violin

    Every ceramic violin starts with liquid casting clay. We pour these into a plaster mould, in which an even ceramic wall slowly forms. Once the right thickness is reached, we pour off the excess clay. After that, the workpiece remains in the mold for some time to get sufficient strength.

    After unloading, we let the violin dry quietly. We then rework each copy by hand. Casting seams are removed, small irregularities are touched up and the characteristic shapes of the instrument are carefully checked. Especially the narrow neck, the curls and other fine details require a lot of attention during the finish.

    This is followed by the first baking process, the biscuit firing. We then apply the decoration, either by hand or using screen printing, depending on the design. Finally, the violin is given a transparent glaze and is fired again. During this second firing, the ceramic gets its characteristic shine and the decoration is permanently protected.

    Before the violin leaves our factory, we carefully check the finish. This way you can be sure that every copy has been made with care.

    Produced in our own factory

    In our factory in Gouderak, we carry out almost the entire ceramic production process ourselves. From pouring the clay and finishing the ceramic mold to decorating, glazing, and firing, most of the work is done under one roof. In this way, we keep an eye on the quality of the end product during every step.
