Anton Mauve. Zaandam, September 18, 1838 – Arnhem, February 5, 1888) was a Dutch painter and graphic artist. Mauve wasone of the founders of the Larense School. He painted many of his paintings in the vicinity of Laren ( ``the land of Mauve`` reffers to this area, het Gooi). Mauve painted and watercolored many works with shepherds and sheep.
