Craftsmanship from our own workshop

Dutchceramics (Montagne Aardewerkfabriek BV) has been working according to traditional ceramic methods from Gouda and the surrounding area since 1950. In our workshop in Gouderak, the plates are shaped, dried, painted and glazed by hand.

Whether you choose one hand-painted Delft Blue birth plate or a small series via screen printing: each item goes through experienced hands and gets the attention and care it deserves. That craftsmanship is reflected in the bright color, the precise details and the durable finish.

How we make your birth sign

1. Forming the base: The clay is shaped by hand into a tight, even base shape.
2. Drying and pre-baking: The piece is dried slowly and given an initial firing to make it firm.
3. Decorating with the design: Our pottery painters carefully apply the décor, such as the name, date and illustrations.
4. Glazes: The plate gets a protective glaze layer for a neat finish.
5. Final firing: During the final firing, the characteristic blue colour and shine are created.

Each step contributes to a unique birth sign that can last for generations.

Delivery time and personal advice

Do you need the sign by a certain date? Please let us know. We are happy to discuss what is possible and provide a clear schedule based on your wishes and the chosen design.

Submitting your data is very easy. You send us the name, date, any illustration or photo and any additional wishes by e-mail. Our designers will then create a concept that you will receive by e-mail. Only when you are completely satisfied, we start making the birth board. This way you know exactly what the end result will look like.
