Large delftplaque (30 by 25cms.) depicting Goudas medieval townhall. Handpainted at dutchceramicsgouda by our masterpainter Martinus vandenBerg in 2019. This single and unique piece can be framed in wood a colorshade  of your liking.

This town hall has been built from 1448 to 1459 in Belgian limestone and is without any doubt the most characteristic gotic town hall in Holland. Also the fact it is free-standing on the large central market square of this ancient town gives it a distinct feature.  A later expansion from 1603 is the renaissance-style landing but apart from that this city council has survived over 500 years in its original style. It has been in use for city counsil meeting uninterrupted since 1148 until 2012 when a new town hall was built (Huis van de stad). The wedding hall is still being used and its rich original (mostly17th century) interior can be seen on tour in summer holidays.
